My name is Denise Whitney and I’m the creator of the Parking Pal. I’m a homeschooling mom of 3 boys and also work part time as an RN. My journey began about 7 years ago after I had my 3rd child. I found myself very stressed out in parking lots trying to manage 2 other kids while getting the baby in and out of the van. The idea of the Parking Pal was born. My mom joined me as a partner and we began to get the ball rolling ! About 10 months later, we had our product in hand and started selling them in a local store. Then came a huge blow to us both personally and for our business. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She spent the next 8 months successfully fighting her cancer. But our personal tragedies didn’t end there. A short while later, my dad got very sick with cancer and passed away a few days after Christmas. Him and my mom had been married for 42 years. It took a while before we could begin to focus on the business again, but we were looking forward to 2011. Then in March of 2011, we had another set back. At the age of 39, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. I spent most of that year in treatment. We made it through, and finally in 2012 we were able to focus on our business again and launched our second product called the Penalty Pal (time-out spot). Since then, we have launched several other products. Our newest product is a fabulous book called "Cars Are Big And I Am Small." It is a book that teaches about safety around vehicles and in parking lots through fun, colorful illustrations. Both moms and kids absolutely love our products, and we hope and believe that someday they will be a household name.
